EXCLUSIVE: Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, The Exorcist) has been cast in The Bondsman, the genre action series from creator Grainger David and starring Kevin Bacon, that was ordered straight to series in June. The project hails from Blumhouse TV for Prime Video.

She will portray Maryanne, whose ex-husband Hub Halloran (Bacon), is a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, and love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.

Erik Oleson, who was showrunner for the second season of Amazon’s Carnival Row, will serve as showrunner on the half-hour, eight-episode series, via his CrimeThink production company, which has a deal at the streamer.

David executive produces alongside Bacon, Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold and Chris Dickie for Blumhouse Television and Paul Shapiro for CrimeThink.

Nettles is a Grammy-winning, Emmy-winning entertainer on multiple platforms. She most recently appeared in Blumhouse’s new take of The Exorcist and returns seasonally in the HBO hit series The Righteous Gemstones as Aimee-Leigh. Additionally, she performed in Focus Features’ Harriet Tubman biopic.

Musically she recently won an Emmy Award for Best Original Song for “Life is Sweet” featured in PBS’ American Anthems. Her latest album release is a collection of American songbook classics entitled Always Like New.

Nettles made her Broadway debut in 2015 as Roxy Hart in the Tony Award-winning musical Chicago, and starred as Donna in the Hollywood Bowl’s summer production of Mamma Mia!, as well as most recently starring as Jenna in the musical Waitress. She is currently developing a musical about 17th Century Crusading Poisoner, Giulia Tofana.

She is repped by CAA and Gellman Management.
